It also includes a full-color facsimile of the codex and a page-by-page guide to its iconography, making it accessible to a wide audience. Other topics of this publication include the use and importance of sacred books in Mesoamerica, the role of astronomy in the ancient Maya societies, and the continuing importance of the codex in contemporary Maya communities.
