Sybilla. El Hilo invisible/ The Invisible Thread

Sybilla: The Invisible Thread emerged as a catalogue of the exhibition of the same name held at the Sala Canal de Isabel II in Madrid from 27 September 2022 to 15 January 2023.

Sybilla stormed onto the Spanish fashion scene in 1983. Since that time, both domestic and international critics have acknowledged her as the greatest designer from Spain since Cristóbal Balenciaga. It may not be easy to find a common thread in her work when seen as a whole, but this thread does exist and is present in the guise of languages that allow her to act like it isn’t there while making her work coherent.

This exhibition seems to show those languages articulated by the invisible thread that brings coherence to her entire body of work, languages that she seems to weave without realising it, because Sybilla sets words aside to express Life as she experiences it.
