Having produced more than 300 artists books, Jean-Marc Brunet has always enjoyed a dialogue with poets: Bernard Noël, Michel Butor, Tita Reut, Yves Bonnefoy, Natanaële Chatelain, Dominique Sampiero, and Michel Ragon have playfully collaborated with him, to create precious, rare, and very limited edition works enriched with prints.
Two texts by Jean-Clarence Lambert now echo a selection of recent pastels by Jean-Marc Brunet. They provide a magnificent insight into the work of this artist. Abstract painting that in truth is almost figurative, if one knows how to look. The painting introduces real light, suggests spaces, and translates rhythms and movements. Or reveals the bursting of matter and fusion, in an alchemy that allows the poet and the painter to exploit a double poetics of fire, that of gold and the Phoenix.
