Altarejos. A garden in the pasture

In this carefully edited book, featuring numerous full-page reproductions, Carlos March, entrepreneur and nature enthusiast, revisits the history of his Altarejos garden, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Morena, in the northern province of Seville. Surrounded by wild mountain pastures, rocky outcrops and slate, rockroses and holm oaks, the spectacular Altarejos garden, with three hundred varieties of roses and more than four hundred varieties of trees, shrubs, and groundcovers, is, after thirty-five years of painstaking work, an example of balance and respectful cohesion with its surroundings.

The story of the creation, development, and ongoing care of this garden, with its achievements, successes, and failures, is also, in large part, the author's own story as a lover of nature, gardening, hunting, and photography.
