The collection of contemporary Spanish art at the National Heritage Site stands out for its connection between the past and the present, reflecting a living heritage that remains attentive to current artistic creation, as it did in previous centuries. This selection, although not exhaustive, includes representative works of the abstract movement by artists such as Pablo Palazuelo, José Guerrero, Albert Ràfols-Casamada, and Josep Guinovart, as well as figurative artists such as Juan Genovés, Eduardo Arroyo, and Luis Gordillo. Over the years, works by artists of later generations, such as José María Sicilia, Soledad Sevilla, and Miquel Barceló, have been incorporated. In 2001, pieces by artists such as José Manuel Ciria, Darío Urzay, Antonio Murado, and other significant artists such as Guillermo Pérez Villalta and Carmen Laffón were added, continually renewing this collection on display at the Royal Sites and contributing to the representation of a new artistic era.
