The collection assembled by Juan Abelló and Anna Gamazo constitutes one of the richest art collections in Europe, with works ranging from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. Its holdings include a highly coherent group of paintings and drawings depicting views of the city of Madrid and locations in its autonomous community, which are brought together and studied here for the first time in a monographic format.
The richness and variety of the works allow for an intriguing tour of a Madrid that has either vanished or has been greatly transformed. This collection is equivalent to a small museum of the evolving image of the capital and the nearby Royal Sites, some of whose sites are now World Heritage Sites.
