This work presents a collection of securities from the Madrid Stock Exchange dated between 1729 and 1901, which allow us to follow Spain's economic modernization process. Although the first stock companies emerged in Italy and Germany before the 15th century, the Spanish Stock Exchange did not open until 1831, initially focusing on government securities. The true stock market boom began in 1855 with the development of the railroad and the expansion of banking. The securities gathered in this collection not only document the existence of numerous companies but also technological advancements and changes in everyday life: navigation, railroads, trams, automobiles, and electricity. In addition to their economic and historical importance, these securities stand out for their aesthetic quality as examples of engraving and graphic design, reflecting the evolution of the decorative arts of each era. Thus, the publication combines documentary and artistic value, illustrating the country's transformation through its financial markets.
