Hispano-Muslim ceramics

In this volume, Balbina Martínez Caviró, a specialist in Spanish ceramics and director of the Valencia Institute of Don Juan, offers a comprehensive study of ceramics produced in Spain, both in Muslim and Christian territories, where Islamic technical innovations persisted until the 16th century. The work analyzes Andalusian ceramics, from the Umayyad to the Nasrid periods, and Mudejar ceramics, highlighting the most important production centers such as Paterna, Manises, Teruel, Muel, Seville, Talavera de la Reina, and Puente del Arzobispo.

Hispano-Muslim ceramics, of extremely high technical quality and aesthetic and historical value, are part of important international collections such as those of the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Louvre, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The publication includes numerous color photographs, many taken specifically for this study, and pays special attention to architectural ceramics, such as tiles and tiling. It is a reference work on one of the most significant artistic legacies of medieval art in Spain.
