This publication presents one hundred absolute masterpieces chosen from among the more than 165,000 pieces preserved in the extensive and invaluable Spanish Royal Collections. These are exceptionally representative examples from all the artistic disciplines that enriched the treasures of the Crown: illuminated books of hours, small devotional works, delicate pieces of gold- and silverwork, large tapestries, medieval textiles, sculptures, arms and armor, furniture, carriages, frescoes, spectacular fountains, famous paintings by Bosch, Titian, Velazquez, Caravaggio, Goya… and grandiose settings in which all of these arts are combined, such as the Throne Room in the Royal Palace of Madrid.
With over one hundred photographic plates and details, each work is presented by the curators of the Royal Collections, in a publication that is the first to appear with the opening of the Gallery of the Royal Collections, and that allows the reader to marvel closely at the great treasures that are conserved by Patrimonio National, the Spanish National Heritage agency.
