The art collection formed since the early 1980s by the Spaniards Juan Abelló and Anna Gamazo is among the most important in the world. Great lovers of history and art, have built a collection of strong personality, whose thread is the beauty and quality of the pieces that make it up.
It is a cross-sectional collection, which brings together works created over five hundred years, between the XV and XXI centuries, by both Spanish and international artists, particularly by those who have less presence in public and private collections in Spain, and through of which the Abelló couple has carried out a remarkable work of recovering the artistic heritage of their country.
The great exhibition, "The Abelló Collection: A Modern Taste for European Masters", presented by the Meadows Museum, Southern Methodist University, shows for the first time in the United States, a careful selection of more than one hundred works of the Abelló Collection: excellent paintings and some sculpture; but also, very significantly, drawings, of whose artistic value and importance to understand the creative process, the Abelló marriage was early conscious, which encouraged them to initiate the creation of works on paper that are now recognized for their extension and its extraordinary quality.
